We meet when public transportation arrives. Walks last 5-6 hours and are of moderate difficulty except where noted. Bring lunch, water, knife and a basket for mushrooms. Non members attendance: $5, $10 family. Leaders have discretion to cancel walks in case of rain or dry conditions. Call or email if in doubt.

WARNING: Many mushrooms are toxic. Neither the Society nor individual members are responsible for the identification or edibility of any fungus.

TRANSPORTATION NOTES: Check transportation schedules online for time changes! And pick up a return schedule!

NEW (or LAPSED) MEMBERSHIPS: $20 ($30 for a family). Send a check made out to “NYMS” to our treasurer. Current members will be able to renew - before April 10 - at $15 or $25.

Jun. 30

Central Park, New York City. Leader: Gary Lincoff (212-662-2651). Meet 10 a.m. Central Park West and 96th Street. The 8th Ave. C local stops at 96th Street. (Easy)

July 7

Wolf’s Pond Park, Prince’s Bay, Staten Island. Leader: Don Recklies (718-768-9036). Take the 8:30 Staten Island ferry from Whitehall St. and then take the Staten Island Railway (SIR) which leaves at 9:01. It arrives at the Prince’s Bay station at 9:34 when the walk starts. We meet right upstairs on Seguine Avenue. If coming by car, let Don know.

July 14

Van Cortlandt Park, Bronx, N.Y. Leader: Victor Weiss (212-979-0541). Meet 10 a.m. at W. 242nd St. & Broadway, last stop on IRT #1 line. Bring containers for berries. (Easy)

July 20

Stony Brook, Harriman State Park, Rockland Co., N.Y. Leader: Tom Bigelow (917-776-5848). Meet in Sloatsburg at RR tracks one block from municipal building. Take N.J. Transit 9:14 Northeast Corridor train from Penn Station; transfer 9:23 at Secaucus Junction for Port Jervis line train which arrives Sloatsburg 10:12.

August 4

Norvin Green State Park (Weis Ecology Center), Passaic Co., N.J. Leader: George Rogoff (212-477-3887). Take 9:30 N.J. Transit bus #197 to Midvale, N.J., arriving Skyline Lakes Drive and Ringwood Ave. at gas station around 10:40. Buy a zone 8 ticket. Try to call George before Friday if coming by bus. Possible swim in pool?

August 17

Beech Brook, Passaic Co., N.J. Leader: Dennis Aita (212-962-6908).Take 9:30 N.J. Transit #197 bus arriving around 10:50. Buy a zone 9 ticket for Hewitt. Tell bus driver to let you off at Greenwood Lake Turnpike and Beech Road, first road on right, 0.6 mile beyond Margaret King Ave. in Ringwood. Let Dennis know if coming by bus. (Moderate to strenuous)

August 24

Depew Park, Peekskill, Westchester Co., N.Y. Joint walk with Mid-Hudson Mycological Association. Leader: Karen Schechner (914-262-7345). Take 8:47 Metro-North Express arriving Peekskill 9:42. Train can be boarded at 125 St. or Marble Hill Sta. (IRT # 1 stop at 225th St. in Bronx).

September 22

South Mountain Reservation. . Leader: Laura Biscotto (212-677-3060). Take NJ Transit 9:11 train from N.Y.’s Penn. Station to Millburn NJ (Morristown Line), arriving 9:54. Walk 2 blocks north to reservation parking lot.

Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, N.Y. Leader: Dennis Aita (212-962-6908). Take Lex #4 train to the last stop, Woodlawn & Jerome Ave. Meet 10 a.m. at the cemetery’s entrance. (Easy)

October 12

October 20

Tallman State Park, Rockland Co., NY. Alice Barner (917-414-5591). Take Coach USA Red & Tan Route 9AT 9:15 bus from PA Bus Terminal or from uptown GW Bridge Bus Station at 9:40 arriving Oak Tree Road & 9W (Palisades, NY) at 10:06. If coming by bus, call Alice.

October 26

Clove Lakes Park, Staten Island, N.Y. Leader: Paul Sadowski (212-348-3092). Take 9:30 Staten Island Ferry arriving 9:55. From Ramp A take either S61 or S62 bus and get off at LeBau Avenue (along Victory Blvd.) by skating rink, 2 stops beyond Clove Road.
